The following galleries are of photos from hill walks we have taken over the past couple of years. Some are part of the National Loop Walks.
Below the small village of Carran is an example of a polje or karst field. At times the valley collects water, forming a turlough, a lake which disappears during dry periods. This walk rises up over Termon Hill, passing through limestone pavements and hazel groves and past St. Fachtnan's Well where there are penitential stations uniquely found here and on the Aran Islands. Like much of the Burren the area is rife with singular wild flowers and limestone formations.
